Arbor Day Celebration Planned

On March 15, 2010, the Tree City USA Committee will host an Arbor Day Celebration at 2 p.m. in Melbourne. Committee members will plant a tree adjacent to the newly-constructed Cooperative Extension Service Office in the city hall complex area. Melbourne has been designated as a Tree City by the Arkansas Forestry Commission and the Arbor Day Society for the last four years consecutively.

Melbourne Mayor Mike Cone will preside over the Arbor Day Ceremony and present an official proclamation to honor Arbor Day in the City. Karla Rush, Director for Advancement at Ozarka College, will present information on 'carbon footprints' and the benefits of recycling. Other committee members include Donnie Gulley, Bridget McSpadden, Carroll Prewitt, Dave Rush and Joan Stirling.  The public is invited to attend.
