The Arkansas Department of Workforce Education announced last month that two students who completed their GED (General Educational Development test) through the Ozarka College Adult Education Department last year were among the top 25 scores of the 6,695 who were awarded the Arkansas High School Diplomas in the State of Arkansas through the GED examination.
Peter Shattuck had the top score and Matthew Demas was in the top 25. Both GED recipients were honored and awarded plaques on their achievementsin the rotunda of the State Capitol in Little Rock, during a Literacy Month celebration on April 24.
Shattuck, who is from Wirth is enrolled as a college student at UALR. He plans to major in music.
Demas of Cherokee Village is enrolled in the aviation maintenance program through Black River Technical College in Pocahontas.
