Ozarka College and Frog Watch USA to Host Free Workshops

Published on August 7, 2017

Ozarka College will partner with Frog Watch USA to offer free workshops in Mountain View during the month of October. The presenter for both workshops will be Tom Krohn, Frog Watch USA Arkansas Regional Coordinator

"The Sixth Mass Extinction " will be presented on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Krohn stated, "There have been five mass extinctions in the last 500 million years - the last one occurring 65 million years ago that wiped out the dinosaurs.   Most biologists think we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction that could wipe out over half of all existing plant and animal species by 2100. "  This presentation discusses what caused the first five mass extinctions, what is causing the current one, why we should be concerned, and what each of us can do to make a difference.

"Birds, Bees, and Butterflies - Creating a Nature Friendly Yard " will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Attendees will learn why nature is important, why it is in trouble, and actions they can take in their own yards to help.

The workshops will be held in the lecture hall at Ozarka College in Mountain View. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. For more information or to register for this free workshop, please call 870.269.5600 or email: lhgalloway@ozarka.edu.
