Arkansas State Senator, Missy Thomas Irvin, will address Ozarka College graduates during the 2014 Commencement Ceremony.  Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m., in the auditorium of the John E. Miller Education Complex.

Senator Missy Thomas Irvin is serving her second term in the Arkansas Senate representing Senate District 18, which is comprised of Cleburne, Searcy and Stone counties and portions of Baxter, Faulkner, Fulton, Marion, Van Buren and White counties. She is chair of Senate City, County & Local Affairs, vice chair of Joint Energy for the 89th General Assembly. Her other committee memberships include Senate Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee; Senate Efficiency; Arkansas Legislative Council; Joint Budget Committee (JBC); the Task Force on Substance Abuse Treatment Services; JBC - Peer Review; the Task Force on Substance Abuse Prevention, the Arkansas Conference Hunger Relief Task Force and the Chief Justice's Task Force on Children and Youth. She also serves as Assistant Pro Tempore and vice chairman of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance.

Ozarka College is fortunate that Senator Irvin has agreed to serve as our 2014 Commencement speaker, said Dr. Dawe, President of Ozarka College. "She has served Ozarka students and higher education so very well during her tenure as senator and is absolutely committed to advancing opportunities for our students and families in her service area."

More than 400 students are expected to receive credentials from 28 Ozarka College degree programs.  Most of these students have overcome the challenge of balancing school with work, home, and family life.   The administration, faculty, and staff are proud of the hard work graduates have put into achieving their goals and invite friends, families, and community members to attend the 2014 commencement ceremony.
