Associate Vice President of Planning and Institutional Research


The Associate Vice President of Planning and Institutional Research, acting under the direction of the Provost, oversees institutional and academic planning, assessment, and accreditation. As part of the administrative team, the Associate Vice President of Planning and Institutional Research collaborates with the President, Provost, Vice-Presidents, and other Directors to advance the College.  In addition, this position represents the College in various activities as appointed by the Provost.


Primary Duties:


Leadership


  • Provides leadership in conjunction with Administrative Council in reviewing, facilitating, and evaluating the planning process.
  • Provides leadership in institutional research and data gathering and distribution.
  • Provides leadership for the accreditation process and ensuring successful HLC/NCA compliance in conjunction with the President and Provost.
  • Initiates the environmental scanning process and survey development.
  • Provides leadership for grant writing and management.

 Communication


  • Serves as a liaison at the institutional level for planning, for the accreditation process, and for institutional research.
  • Serves to communicate with the community concerning institutional research, the accreditation process, and the planning process.
  • Acts as a liaison between the college and various consortia.
  • Represents the College at public events.

Students


  • Serves students through institutional research, committee appointments, planning, and the accreditation process.

Budget


  • Formulates and implements the budget for Planning and Institutional Research and Accreditation.
  • Formulates and implements the budget for Higher Learning Commission related activities in conjunction with the Vice President of Finance.


Administrative


  • Is responsible for the final planning document and the yearly assessment document of planning implementation.
  • Leads the strategic planning initiative at the College and is responsible for producing the final strategic planning document.
  • Conducts surveys and reports the results of those surveys for the College. 
  • As HLC/NCA liaison, keeps the President and Provost aware of communications from and organizes activities in conjunction with HLC.
  • Works closely with the Provost in being a proponent for, educating others about, and facilitating the successful self-study process and Pathways initiative.
  • Provides support for institutional research in conjunction with the Director of Information Systems.
  • Supervises grant writing and specified grant management.

Other


  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Provost.
  • Serves on designated committees.

Minimum qualifications:


  • Has earned a masters degree or higher from an accredited institution, doctoral coursework or degree preferred.
  • Has a minimum of three years of work experience in a college environment.
  • Has knowledge of and experience in working with grant-related federal guidelines.
  • Has demonstrated commitment to detail as necessitated by institutional research.
  • Has demonstrated skills necessary for institutional research.
  • Has demonstrated commitment to institutional effectiveness.
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills.
  • Has demonstrated participation in or support for the higher education accreditation process.
  • Has demonstrated a history of general leadership skills.
  • Has experience in strategic planning.
  • Has demonstrated commitment to team leadership and ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the leadership team.
  • Has demonstrated people and communication skills to represent the College at the institutional, community, state, and federal levels.
  • Has demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and take initiatives.
  • Has demonstrated personal and professional integrity.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to represent the College among peers.
  • Possesses good time management skills and has the ability to successfully prioritize.
  • Possesses good computer skills with experience in Word, PowerPoint, XL Spreadsheet, and Publisher and can adapt to the myriad of systems for institutional research.

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience.

Supplemental life and vision insurance is available at group rates. Other benefits offered include participation in the wellness program, tuition waivers, educational opportunities, and accrued annual and sick leave.
