Library Director

Ozarka College is seeking applications for a Library Director.  The Library Director, acting under the direction of the Provost and Executive Vice President of Learning, will provide leadership, administration, and vision to the Ozarka College Library.  The Library Director is a twelve-month position. 

Position Specific:

  • Develop a Strategic Plan that visions and lays the foundation to create a 21st century library operation that supports the unique characteristics of Ozarka College
  • Establish and maintain a productive work environment for students, faculty, and staff
  • Coordinate and manage the selection, acquisition, circulation, and maintenance of materials and equipment 
  • Prepare statistical records and reports
  • Train and supervise library personnel
  • Develop and administer library budget
  • Evaluate library programs, services, facilities, and materials to ensure continuous improvement and optimum use by patrons
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities
  • Promote Library resources to support faculty with their instructional needs
  • Participate in the Academic and Curriculum committees to ensure library support for all Ozarka programs and participate in other campus committees as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Provost

College Wide:

  • Develop a Library operations plan that enhances the learning environment provided by the College at all campus locations
  • Promote and help develop a College environment of respect, dignity, and cooperation where ideas, questioning and the continued pursuit of self-development are valued as a means toward learning and growth 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or related field
  • Five years experience in a library leadership position preferred
  • Knowledge of budgeting and personnel procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of a computer as it relates to specific position requirements such as; word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy
  • Demonstrated commitment to assisting students and faculty
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development
