Director of Public Relations and Marketing

Ozarka College in Melbourne is seeking well-qualified applicants for a full time Director of Public Relations and Marketing. This person should be visionary, high energy, outgoing and have high standards of integrity. The successful candidate must be an effective time and resource manager and possess strong writing and communication skills.  Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.  The Director of Public Relations and Marketing reports to the College President.


Position Specific:


  • Coordinate all College-related press releases and announcements to local media.
  • Work with local media on paid advertising efforts within a limited budget.
  • Work closely with student services to develop publications for recruitment purposes.
  • Assist with community–related projects where Ozarka is involved.
  • Represent Ozarka at various community events.
  • Prepare and distribute Campus News.
  • Consult with and support Information Systems efforts to maintain accuracy and efficiency with the College web and social media sites.
  • Seek professional development for improved skills and knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain photograph base for general marketing use.
  • Participate actively in the College marketing plan and budget.
  • Support campus activities, both on and off campus.
  • Build rapport with media representatives, including visits periodically to media offices and hosting media visitors to the College.
  • Participate actively in Ozarka College Foundation activities.
  • Conduct marketing research as needed to justify expenditures.
  • Maintain current information on media contacts.
  • Keep the President informed of activities relevant to marketing the College.
  • Maintain and monitor College identity, including logo, taglines, colors, and use thereof.
  • Ensure the College mission statement is promoted campus and community-wide.
  • Monitor and enhance social media venues for the College.
  • Order and maintain promotional items imprinted with College logo for promotional activities.
  • Assist College bookstore, as appropriate, with logo’d items for sale.
  • Participate in marketing or advertising with special projects and events as needed.
  • Develop billboards, radio ads, television ads, newspaper or magazine ads as needed in line with the marketing plan and marketing research.
  • Work with the regional high schools and service area Fair boards for yearbook and county/district fair advertising.
  • Coordinate outsourced printing through approved State-funded sources.
  • Attend College events as assigned for photographic coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or other appropriate field.
  • A minimum of two years professional work experience in marketing, communications or public relations activities is desired.
  • Must possess strong technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the responsibilities and skills required to fulfill the position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of a computer as it relates to specific position requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to assisting students and faculty.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated effective organization skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
