Edwards Named Academic All-Star

Ozarka College has selected Wendell Edwards of Sidney, Arkansas as recipient of the Academic All-Star scholarship program. Upon completion of his Associate of Science degree in Business, Edwards plans to attend Arkansas Tech University (ATU) in the spring of 2019.
The purpose of this program is to recognize the scholarly and service achievements of Arkansas' two-year college students. Academic All-Stars will be recognized in October at the Arkansas Community Colleges annual Awards Brunch that takes place in Little Rock, Arkansas. Each two-year college with provide the All-Star with a $500 scholarship to complete his/her final semester at the two-year college. Traditionally, All-Star recipients also receive a full tuition scholarship from the Arkansas college or university of their choice to complete their four-year degree.
To apply to be an Academic All-Star, Edwards was required to meet eligibility requirements such as being an Arkansas resident, enrolled in a public two-year college, expected to continue enrollment through at least Fall 2018, have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher. Edwards, who has a 4.0 GPA, meets or exceeds all of those requirements. Applicants were also required to demonstrate involvement in campus and/or community activities. Edwards is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
"Wendell is a gifted scholar and exceptional student leader who takes pride in being active in his church and community, " said Dr. Josh Wilson, Ozarka College vice president of student services. "We are very proud of Wendell's achievements and expect only continued success as he transfers to Arkansas Tech University to pursue a degree in accounting. "
