Ozarka College caps and pins nursing graduates

Ozarka College practical nursing and registered nursing students were honored at a capping and pinning ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 11 in John E. Miller Education Complex on the Melbourne campus. 

Students honored completed the 18-month practical nursing program or the registered nursing program through the Arkansas Rural Nursing Education Consortium (ARNEC).

Registered nursing students included Donna Arnold, Lisa Berdeja, Tracy Bolt, Leah Bruce, Melissa Burrow, Melanie Chandler, Jackie Coggins, Rosemary Geisser, Kimberly Hill, Amanda Jaynes, Sarah Johnson, Lena Jones, Sarah Keen, Melanie Kock, Darla Lambert, Sara Lawrence, Peggy Laxton, Lisa Nunally, Wilma Parker, Stephanie Pittman, Sarah Price, Sherry Prichard, Chasity Reamon, Dana Smith, Deborah Smith, Brandy Stigall, Janne Sumrall, Elizabeth Taylor, Meagan Taylor, Kara Tibbits, Sandra Tolman, Casey Townsend, Jamie Tradway, Ashlei Tyson, Amanda Van Dyke, Erica Wakeham, Ashley Walker, Joyce Wollschlager, and Myrtle Wright. 

Practical nursing students included Malrie Alvarez, Taylor Attaway, Tina Boris, Sarah Catron, Renee Chambers, Tianna Gillihan, Liana Greenway, Stacy Hickman, Connie Hoskinds, Tammy McGehee, Brooke Messer, Rebecca Simmons, Christina Sirian, Donna Smith, Sierra Smoot, and Jackie Womack.

The Florence Nightingale Award was presented to Rebecca Simmons from the practical nursing class and Casey Townsend from the registered nursing class.

For practical nursing, Tina Boris received first place in theory class and second place in clinical rotation and Rebecca Simmons received first place in clinical rotation and second place in theory class. 

For registered nursing, Joanne Sumrall received first place in theory class and Ashley Walker received second place. Dana Smith received first place in clinical rotation and Elizabeth Taylor received second place.

Ozarka College offers 11-month practical nursing programs at Melbourne, Ash Flat, Mountain View and Mammoth Spring, and an 18-month program at Melbourne.

The registered nursing program is an 11-month program.
