Ozarka College IST Program Coordinator Announced

Ozarka College is pleased to announce the hiring of a new program coordinator for Information Science Technology (IST). Mr. Ken Barton, who is completing his Doctor of Science Degree in Computer Science, will be joining the faculty of Ozarka College beginning in June.

Barton has taught college level IT coursework for 16 years, has provided IT consulting services for over 8 years, and has experience with webpage design. Additionally, he has personal, teaching and research interests in Gaming, Computer Applications, Networking, and System Virtualization. Barton has a vast array of knowledge in information technology and possesses numerous industry recognized certifications including Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (CCAI), Comptia A+, Comptia Linux +, Comptia Security +, Certified Internet Webmaster  (CIW), Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge, Computer Fast Forensics (Arkansas State Police), AccessData Certified Examiner, SUSE Certified Linux Professional, and CSEC Master Trainer Certification.

IST classes are primarily offered at Ozarka College - Ash Flat and the College is currently accepting applications for new students. Once a student has completed the admissions application, they may register for summer and fall 2017 courses. Assistance is also available at any of Ozarka College's four campus locations in Melbourne, Ash Flat, Mammoth Spring or Mountain View with applying for financial aid. Students may also register for courses online through myOzarka at www.ozarka.edu.

The IST program is geared towards students interested in hands-on instruction in building, troubleshooting, and repairing computers; learning computer networking, network administration, network security, and computer virtualization; and for those who seek industry recognized certifications in these IT areas for employment purposes.

Ozarka College offers a technical certificate as well as a certificate of proficiency in information science technology. Upon completion of the technical certificate, graduates will be prepared to test for Comp TIA A+ and Network+ certifications.
