Ozarka College Offers Flight Training

Published on July 2, 2015

Ozarka College is pleased to announce that the College will begin offering flight training at the Melbourne Municipal Airport on July 1, 2015.   This training is being offered as the College begins the rollout of a new Associate's Degree in Professional Pilot - Aviation.   The inaugural cohort is anticipated to begin during the fall 2015 semester.

"Individuals can now train with Ozarka College to earn an FAA Private Pilot Certificate, " said Nick Lenczycki, Ozarka College Director of Aviation.  "This is the identical training that students will receive as part of the degree program using the exact same equipment. "

Ozarka College recently acquired a Cessna Skyhawk 172 and a Redbird LD Advanced Aviation Training Device.   The Redbird LD accurately represents the training aircraft in almost every respect and serves as an economical way for students to practice a whole range of skills.

"For those that are on the fence, the College also offers discovery flights, " said Lenczycki.   "These flights last about thirty minutes and students have a chance to fly an airplane and see what aviation is all about. "   Discovery flights cost $75.00.

The Aviation Program continues to work toward FAA approval as a flight school under 14 CFR Part 141.   Once approved, both degree students and private individuals will be able to complete their training with fewer required hours.   "Because students can complete their Private Pilot Certificate with five less hours of solo flight time, becoming an approved flight school will save each student almost six hundred dollars, " said Lenczycki.
