Governor Hutchinson Meets with Ozarka College

Published on November 4, 2015

Governor Asa Hutchinson recently took time from his busy schedule to meet with Representative Michelle Gray, Ozarka College President Dr. Richard Dawe, and members of the Ozarka College team on October 15, 2015.

The Governor was in Melbourne, Arkansas with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission's announcement of Micro Plastics' new factory.

The meeting with Ozarka College was to discuss the new Aviation - Professional Pilot program that trains students for future careers as professional pilots. The Governor was also made aware of Ozarka's application for approval to offer the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). Similar !workforce and applied baccalaureate' degrees have been approved at two-year colleges across the nation to address specific workforce training and industry needs.

This transformational degree offering is proposed to address the shortage of BSN qualified nurses in Arkansas and across the country. Ozarka graduates more LPNs than any other two-year college in Arkansas.
