Ozarka College was pleased to accept an invitation from the Governor and Mrs. Asa Hutchison to the Governor's Scholastic Honors Day. The Scholastic Honors Day was held on May 2, 2015 at the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock. Attending on behalf of Ozarka College was Dalton Withers, President of Ozarka College's Student Government Association. Making the trip with him was Ron Helm, Vice President of Student Services.
"Scholastic Honors Day recognizes high-performing students in our state," said Beth Thompson, Deputy Director of Scheduling for the Office of Governor Asa Hutchison. Each high school, within the state of Arkansas, was invited to send two academically top-performing seniors. Additionally, each public-and-private higher education institution was invited to send one college student to participate as an ambassador.
Thompson stated that, "Having student ambassadors from Arkansas colleges at this event gives these college-bound seniors a chance to ask questions and make new friends."
"Attending this event was a very pleasurable experience for both myself and other students in attendance, " said Withers. "It was an honor to be able to represent Ozarka College; I appreciate the level of support and confidence I received from the Faculty while entrusting me to go and represent. "
