Agriculture Program Coordinator/Faculty

Ozarka College in Melbourne, Arkansas seeks applications for a full-time founding Agriculture Program Coordinator/Faculty.  The position is a 9-month full-time faculty position beginning with the fall semester 2017. The position reports to the Math and Science Division Chair. Normal teaching responsibilities requires a minimum 15 credit hours of instruction per semester. This teaching load may be reduced by the Provost to allow for program development and recruitment during the initial stages of program development.  This position requires a passion for effective teaching and advising of students in addition to excellent oral and written communication skills.  The successful candidate will prepare and equip the students for transfer to partner universities, supervise and ensure the proper teaching of agriculture related coursework, and develop new agriculture courses as the program expands.  This position will ensure that Agriculture is taught in an environment that builds teamwork while providing practical individualized experience to students. In addition, the instructor will participate in division activities, institutional committee assignments, and appropriate professional developmental activities relevant to the position, and course and program level assessment.  This individual will also be responsible for growing the program through curriculum development, building an active program advisory council, recruiting students into the program, and active academic counseling and guidance to students.  Curriculum taught will include, but is not limited to animal science, agriculture business, soils, and plant science. The Agriculture program is an Associate of Science Degree in Agriculture and is intended for transfer to 4-year universities. Ability to develop coursework applicable for an Associate of Applied Science for students not desiring to transfer is desired.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 


  • Master’s degree in Agriculture-Animal Science, or closely related field.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Awareness and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively with college committees, campus organizations, and other educational institutions and to be involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Desire to create a lasting legacy in Agriculture Education at Ozarka College.
  • Ability to create an effective and engaged program advisory committee. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • One to three years of college teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in agriculture related employment.

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience.
