Child Care Technician

Ozarka College in Melbourne is seeking qualified applicants for a full time Child Care Technician for the infant room at the Ozarka Kid’s Academy.  The Child Care Technician works under the direction of the Director of Childcare. Deadline for submitting applications will be Friday, December 2, 2016 or until a qualified applicant has been selected.

Primary Duties:  

• Provide daily care for six week to five-year old preschool children
• Supervise nap periods
• Provide educational experience by determining objectives and goals  
• Prepare and present lesson plans while evaluating program effectiveness
• Communicate with parents
• Supervise recreational activities
• Performing administrative duties as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:  

• The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma with courses in home economics, child development, or related areas
• Must have CDA certification or be willing to obtain certification, or hold a degree in    Early Childhood
• Must have or be willing to obtain Infant/Child/Adult CPR certification
• Criminal background check and clearance through the Child Maltreatment Registry 

Special Requirements:  

• Able to lift up to 40 pounds
• Able to bend, squat and sit on floor and must be able to walk and stand for several hours each day  
• As required by state licensing, shall obtain at least 20 hours of in-service training each year in continuing early childhood education
• Required to attend monthly staff meetings
