Vice President of Academic Affairs

Ozarka College is seeking applications for Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA).  The VPAA, reporting directly to the President, is the Chief Academic Officer of the College and is responsible for the overall operation and success of the academics of the College. Reporting to, and working closely with the President, the VPAA provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the instructional units of the College. The VPAA will administer a comprehensive educational program consisting of an A.A. and A.S. transfer degrees; and A.A.S. degrees; certificate programs; online programs; continuing education program; and the library. Additionally, the VPAA is a key collaborator in the College strategic planning efforts as well as the strategic enrollment management planning.  The successful candidate will ideally take office no later than July 1, 2019.


The College: Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Ozark Mountains, Ozarka College is a public two-year technical and comprehensive college. Ozarka College currently serves about 1,200 credit students; 750 FTES, and employs 224 faculty and staff. Ozarka College is in sound fiscal condition and has a very supportive and effective seven-member, Governor appointed, Board of Trustees.  The current president has served Ozarka for ten years.


The Community:  With a total population of 54,000, the College’s four-county service area is well-known for its quiet rural life style, and an abundance of clear rivers, lakes, state parks and attractions.  Major industries include tourism, healthcare, manufacturing, and agriculture.


Minimum Qualifications:  Earned Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution is highly preferred, Masters degree required; faculty experience in a college or university; and, proficiency in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with senior colleagues, faculty, staff, students, local community members, business and industry, state and local governmental agencies and other educational institutions. Experience with accreditation; awareness of, and commitment to, education technologies and distance learning; and demonstrated, effective leadership experience.


Preferred Qualifications:  Experience supervising faculty at a college or university, or significant senior student services leadership experience. Demonstrated record of successful administration of budgets, facilities and faculty; demonstrated knowledge of current major issues facing two-year colleges, both nationally and regionally.
