Ozarka College and FrogWatch USA to Host Frog Listening Workshops

Published on January 2, 2015

Ozarka College will partner with FrogWatch USA to offer free Frog Listening Workshops in Mountain View, Ash Flat and Mammoth Spring, beginning in January 2015.

The seminars will be presented by Tom Krohn, Arkansas Regional Coordinator for Frog Watch USA. The first session will teach you to identify all the frogs and toads in our area by their calls.   Participants will learn to mimic frog calls, as well as receive handouts and visual memory aids.   You will also learn why frogs are important, why they are in trouble, and what can be done to help them.   The second session introduces the wetlands and frog monitoring training for the FrogWatch USA national network, administered by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Ozarka College in Mountain View will host the first session, meeting on January 27 and February 3 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. The second session will take place at Ozarka College in Ash Flat on February 12 and 19 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. The final session will take place at the National Fish Hatchery Aquatic Center in Mammoth Spring on February 24 and March 3 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.

Seating is limited and reservations are recommended.   For the workshop in Mountain View, please call 870.269.5600. For Ash Flat, please call 870.994.7273 and for Mammoth Spring, please call 870.625.0411.
