Capacity Crowd for Graduation

Ozarka College graduates and their guests filled the John E. Miller Auditorium for 2003 Graduation ceremonies held Thursday, May 15.
The ceremony began with an invocation given by Gayle Cooper, Vice President for Finance. Chairman of the Board of Trustees, John Thornton welcomed all guests and College President Douglas W. Rush introduced members of the Ozarka Board of Trustees and former State Representative John E. Miller.
Continuing with recognition of special honors was Vice President of Academic Affairs, Linda Morgan who presented honorary degrees to the families of two students who passed away during the past year, Talena Armstead and Jessica Ballard. The Honorable Stephen Choate, Circuit Judge for the 16th Judicial District, delivered the commencement address to the graduates.
Ron Helm, Vice President for Student Services, presented the class with diplomas awarded by Thornton of Cherokee Village and Rush, assisted by Linda Morgan, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Randy Scaggs, Director of Admissions, provided the benediction, while Lois Hacker played the processional and recessional.
Students completing their studies with an overall grade point average of 3.75 or higher in a technical certificate or associate degree program are designated as graduating Magna Cum Laude. Achieving this recognition in the Associate of Arts program were Eric Nelson Allen, Sheila Diana Allen, Angela Marie Beaver, Jana Kay Cash, Sandra A. Approximately 140 students received General Educational Development (GED) diplomas.
