Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to take place at Ozarka College

Published on January 26, 2015

Ozarka College will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Student Services Center in Melbourne, Arkansas on January 29, 2015. This event begins at 11:00 AM and the community is invited to attend.

With the support of local sales tax revenue provided by the citizens of Melbourne, the Ozarka College Board of Trustees issued approximately $2.9 million in revenue bonds to finance construction for this state of the art facility. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 18, 2013 and construction, led by Construction Network Inc., followed.

Just over one year later, the Student Services Center is ready to open and will significantly enhance the Ozarka College experience.   The Student Services Center will serve as a hub of campus activity and provide a central location for meetings and special events for community groups and students.   Additionally, this will offer businesses and organizations throughout the region access to leading-edge technology and conference facilities.

"We hope to have a large crowd of friends and supporters for this very special Ribbon Cutting event, " said Dr. Richard Dawe, Ozarka College President. "This Student Services Center will be a transformational building  for Ozarka College and our community that will be used and enjoyed for many years to come. "

Businesses and families alike have shown great support for this project while participating in the capital campaign. Plaques giving naming rights to rooms inside the Student Services Center have been placed in honor of those who donated $2,500 or more. Special thanks to the following Capital Campaign donors: FNBC Bank, Centennial Bank, Dr. Richard and Chris Dawe, Dr. Dennis C. and Christy M. Rittle, Lenora Yancey, Mark Herrington, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, CenturyLink, Dan and Nancy Orr, Danny and Connie Mosier, Dennis and Wanda Wiles, First National Bank of Izard County, G.H. Miller and Sons, Inc., Guy and Joan Stirling, Hatfield Ready Mix, Inc., Izard County Farm Burea, Jason and Mandy Lawrence, Mike and Lesha Watson, Paul and Treva Miller, Randy and Diane Zook, Ron C. and Karen D. Helm, Ruby Miller and Children, Shane and Lisa Gardner, The Johnson Family, and The Ozarka College Foundation Board.

Ozarka College Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and other Student Services will be housed in the Student Services Center, as well as the new Ozarka Cafe. The Cafe, available to staff, students, campus visitors and the community will offer a menu with dine-in or grab and go options. Whether you join us for lunch or utilize our catering services, an enhanced dining experience is to be expected.

Ozarka College has been providing life-changing experiences through education for forty years, and the new Student Services Center will assist the College in continuing to provide outstanding student service. Naming opportunities in the Student Services Center are still available. For more information on becoming a donor, please contact Suellen Davidson, Director of Advancement, at 870.368.2059
