Ozarka College is proud to announce that its Associate of Science in Education (ASE) program has been selected as a recipient of the 2025–2026 Exemplary Program Award from the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs (NACCTEP).
This prestigious national award recognizes outstanding community college teacher preparation programs that demonstrate excellence in innovation, student support, collaboration, and impact on the educator workforce. Ozarka College is the first college in Arkansas to receive this national honor, marking a historic milestone for both the institution and the state's community college system.
NACCTEP's Exemplary Program Award is presented annually to a select number of programs across the nation that exemplify best practices in preparing future educators. Ozarka's Associate of Science in Education program was recognized for its strong partnerships with K–12 school districts, commitment to student success, seamless transfer pathways to four-year institutions, and dedication to strengthening the rural teacher pipeline in North Central Arkansas.
"This award reflects the hard work of our faculty, our students, and our local school partners," said Jill Sandlin, Director of Education at Ozarka College. "Our mission has always been to prepare highly qualified, passionate educators who are ready to serve our communities. Receiving national recognition affirms that the work we are doing at Ozarka is making a meaningful impact."
Ozarka's education program provides students with foundational coursework aligned to state standards, early field experiences in local classrooms, and strong transfer agreements with four-year universities. The program plays a vital role in addressing teacher shortages in rural Arkansas by creating accessible and affordable pathways into the teaching profession.
