Part Time Library Assistant

Ozarka College in Melbourne is accepting applications for a part-time Library Assistant for the Paul Weaver Library.  The part time assistant will report directly to the Library Director. The ideal applicant will possess an interest in gaining the education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.


WORK SCHEDULE: Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule.  Normal hours will be Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  However, some evening hours will be required, occasionally on short notice.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Welcome, greet and provide assistance to library users
  • Be familiar with library procedures, policies, and operations
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with library staff and all college employees
  • Maintain and clean library areas
  • Enforce all facility and program policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills Required:


  • Honesty, dependability, and willingness to work
  • Good interpersonal skills, including working with the public
  • Good commination skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency with computers and computer programs such as Word and Excel
  • Effective typing skills
  • Filing and data-entry skills
  • Flexibility in attitude and availability to include some evening work
  • Able to occasional lift heavy weights of 25lbs. such as books, equipment, etc.
