Science Faculty

Ozarka College seeks applicants for a full-time Science instructor.  The position is a 9-month full-time faculty position requiring a minimum 15 credit hours of instruction per semester beginning in the Fall semester of 2020. 

 

The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of freshman and sophomore courses including, but not limited to, General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Body Structure and Function, and Microbiology.  This position will be based at the Ozarka College Campus in Ash Flat Arkansas but may include teaching assignments at the Melbourne, Mountain View or Mammoth Spring campuses, as well as day, evening, and online classes. Other duties include: participation in departmental activities, institutional committee assignment, advising, assessment, and appropriate professional development activities relevant for the position.   

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Biology or a Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 credit hours of graduate level coursework in Biology
  • Interest and commitment to undergraduate education
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively with college committees, campus organizations, and other educational institutions and to be involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
  • Ability to develop and provide quality Science offerings at a rural community college

Desirable/Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability and credentials to teach in multiple scientific disciplines. In addition to the required credentials for Biology listed above, individuals who also have academic credentials to teach the physical sciences in addition to biology (an additional 18 graduate credit hours in the physical sciences) are encouraged to apply.
  • Two or more years of experience teaching in Higher Education.
  • Experience in developing new courses and laboratory activities.
  • Experience working with traditional and non-traditional community college students.
