Precision Machining Technology Faculty

Ozarka College seeks applicants for a full-time Precision Machining Technology faculty member to begin January 2021. The Precision Machining Technology (PMT) Faculty, acting under the direction of the Division Chair of Applied Science and Technology and the Vice President of Academic Affairs, will play a pivotal role in instruction and promotion of the PMT program.  The PMT Faculty is a nine-month position with a required teaching load of fifteen (15) credit hours as assigned per regular academic semester. In addition, the PMT Faculty is responsible for recruiting students for the program, for counseling and advising within the program area, and maintaining positive relationships with area employers in the field, including acting as industry liaison for the Ozarka Regional Workforce Opportunity of Rural Communities (ORWORC) grant initiative. This faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and maintaining a positive, safe learning environment for students that will prepare them for successful entry into the workplace. Additional responsibilities include course development, assessment, participation in campus committees and activities, developing student internships, creation and promotion of an industry advisory council, and other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma plus four years related career experience in the field
  • Ability to develop and teach PMT curriculum
  • Broad knowledge of PMT applications including the operations CNC machines for manufacturing, procedures, specifications, industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An earned Associate Degree from a regionally-accredited institution plus two years related career experience in the field
  • Nationally-recognized industrial maintenance, machining, or metalworking trainer certification or acquisition within 12 months of appointment.
  • Previous experience as a Precision Machining Faculty
  • Industry/employer engagement experience.

 

Job Description Summary:

  • Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in teaching Precision Machining. Teach assigned courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
  • Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
  • Create and manage a budget for the PMT program including purchasing of material, routine maintenance of equipment and day to day operations cost.
  • Actively recruit students into the PMT program through high school visits, job fairs, and other community engagement events.
