Director of Development

Ozarka College in Melbourne is seeking qualified applicants for Director of Development.  The Director of Development serves as the lead development, constituent relations, and community outreach representative for the College and the Foundation. Under the direct leadership of the Vice President of Advancement, the Director promotes Ozarka College and the importance of higher education throughout the Ozarka College service area.  The Director cultivates lasting community, agency, and business relationships; seeks new funding sources; and works directly with the Foundation Board in pursuit of community support for all Ozarka College students.  The Director of Development is a twelve-month position.

The Director of Development conducts the following activities on behalf of Ozarka College:

Position Specific:

  • Networks with community, agency, government and industry partners to foster mutually beneficial relationships within the region.
  • Coordinates with the Foundation Board in their efforts to generate revenue for the college and to complete their fundraising goals.
  • Responsible for coordinating all Foundation fundraising events.
  • Supports and helps manage College events.
  • Assists the Ozarka College President and Vice President of Advancement with all capital campaigns.
  • Ensures all gifts to the Foundation are processed and properly designated, often coordinating with Ozarka’s finance office.
  • Facilitates the selection and dissemination of Foundation scholarships.
  • Maintains good working relationships with Foundation Board members and nurtures synergy among members and community partners.
  • Assists the Finance office with annual audit review of Foundation records.
  • Directs marketing efforts for Foundation events/Advancement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field from an accredited institution.      Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years related experience, preferably in a community college setting.
  • Proven commitment to community/civic service.
  • Skilled in basic office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, student data systems, and social media platforms. Digital marketing tools a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and use good organizational skills to take initiative and coordinate daily workload.
  • Proven interpersonal skills both written and verbal to promote understanding, respect for others and clear articulation of the college mission.
  • Commitment to personal integrity in all working relationships with others.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and to accept new responsibilities as assigned.
