Computer Support Technician

Ozarka College in Melbourne is seeking qualified applicants for Computer Support Technician.  The Computer Support Technician is an entry level IT position supervised by the Chief Information Officer. The technician is primarily located on the main Ozarka College campus in Melbourne and provides support across all Ozarka locations.   

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Resolves hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendor.
  • Installs, configures, upgrades, or replaces computer hardware and software for users.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for necessary adjustments to applications to satisfy user requirements.
  • Provides recommendations on the purchase of user hardware and software.
  • Assists in planning, preparation, and conducting seminars on software, hardware, network or other computer related topics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in appropriate professional development activities;
  • Serve on any assigned committees and task forces;
  • Travel extensively throughout the College service area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.

            or 

  • Completion of technical training in computer science, information technology, or a related field acquired from a vocational, military, or industrial setting plus two years of experience in computer support.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and rectify software and hardware problems.
  • Knowledge of current application software packages and programming concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written communication, and computer skills as they relate to the specific position requirements;
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
