Director of Planning and Special Projects

Ozarka College in Melbourne is seeking qualified applicants for Director of Planning and Special Projects.  The Director of Planning and Special Projects, acting under the direction of the Vice-President of Advancement, oversees institutional Planning and Special Projects, and works closely with the Administrative Council members for strategic planning and grant activities. The Director of Planning and Special Projects collaborates with the president, vice-presidents and other directors to advance the mission of the College.  In addition, this position represents the College in various activities as appointed by the president. 

Administrative

  • Responsible for the final planning document and yearly assessment of planning activities, implementation, and progress.
  • Assists each department with strategic planning goals, outcomes, and reporting.
  • Completes the environmental scanning process during each planning cycle in close coordination with the Vice President of Advancement.
  • Leads grant initiatives for the College, including research, writing, and management.
  • Serves as lead for special projects within the Advancement department and as directed by the College President.

Communication

  • Serves as a liaison at the institutional level for strategic planning and grant initiatives, including routine communication and evaluation with planning and grant stakeholders at the College.
  • Assists the VP of Advancement with strategic communications, e.g., targeted marketing, website content, press releases.
  • Assists in monitoring website and social media for accuracy and relevance; coordinating with IT when necessary to make improvements/updates.
  • Review print media for quality assurance; including collaboration with library staff to document regional footprint.

Budget

  • Develops and implements Ozarka planning budget.
  • Assists in monitoring budgets within the Advancement departments (e.g., marketing, development, and grants.
  • Provides an end-of-month report on departmental budgets for awareness and monitoring.

Special Projects/Other

  • Assists the VP of Advancement with grant project management, including record-keeping and reporting, as well as monitoring outcomes.
  • Provides support to Advancement department for research, targeted outreach, donor record maintenance, and optimization of constituent engagement.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice-President of Advancement.
  • Serves on designated committees.

College-Wide:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience in a community college preferred.
  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in strategic planning with an emphasis on leading the process is desired.
  • Demonstrated people and communication skills to represent the College at the institutional, community, state, and federal levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and take initiatives.
  • Demonstrated the ability to represent the College among peers.
  • Possesses strong time management skills and can successfully prioritize.
  • Possesses strong computer skills with experience in Word, PowerPoint, XL Spreadsheet, and Publisher.
