Ash Flat Technical Center Director

Ozarka College is seeking qualified applicants for the Ash Flat Technical Center Director position.  The Ozarka College Technical Center Director oversees the day-to-day implementation of grant objectives, coordinates enrollment of both high school and traditional students in technical programs, and serves as a case manager for the Regional Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (ORWORC) initiative.  The Director fosters successful workforce training opportunities for new entrants to the workforce as well as dislocated/incumbent workers. Although primarily an academic position, the director position works closely with an Ozarka Grant Planning team to develop and implement successful participant interventions. The position requires routine travel throughout the ORWORC, 11-county service area and occasional state-wide travel. Working under the direction of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the position is a 12-month, grant-funded position whose continuation is contingent upon accomplishment of grant-related goals and outcomes.

 

Position Specific:

  • Assesses needs of potential students to establish success plans reflective of identified needs.
  • Assesses student progress and implements strategies/leverages resources for participants’ successful entry, re-entry, or improved placement in the workforce.
  • Fosters positive relationships with community/industry partners to provide support for workforce entry or improvement.
  • Facilitates career development activities (e.g., exploration, resume-building, interviews, and networking).
  • Provides interventions, including referrals to social and community support services, when necessary and appropriate.
  • Assists students with enrollment into training/education offerings, including basic skills/foundational training; Ozarka offerings and industry-related certifications (e.g., OSHA, Future Fit, and other employer-driven assessments); and work-based learning experiences.
  • Facilitates collaboration among partners within a regional workforce alliance to achieve ORWORC outcomes.
  • Oversees daily operations/activities of the Ash Flat Technical Center.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with area high school partners to recruit students into work-ready training courses.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports including case notes, participant progress, pertinent grant participant information, participant intake files, state-required reporting, and related forms.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Previous experience working in an industry-related career field.
  • One year of experience with case management or educational service facilitation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Community engagement experience.
